Morphological Characterization of Southern Jalisco, Mexico, Pomegranate Genotypes Using AFLP Markers

چکیده
Pomegranate is gaining popularity because of its proved nutraceutical properties and highly adaptable to different climates. In southern Jalisco, Mexico, 18 genotypes were characterized on the basis fruit characteristics (21 traits) AFLP (Amplified Fragment length polymorphism) markers. The first three components a principal analysis (PCA) explained 71.5% variation. most important variables related size weight. Fruit weight, equatorial diameter, polar rind membrane weight that contributed component one (PC1) 46.4%. juice per fruit, edible proportion, proportion membrane, seed two (PC2) 15.2%, while pH, seed, aril width (PC3) 9.9%. With six combinations primers, 315 fragments obtained (an average 52.5 primer); these, 229 polymorphic (72.7% polymorphism). Grouping by both morphological traits markers separated all evaluated individuals so there no repeated genotypes. analyses, grouping did not obey geographic origin (r = ?0.35), suggesting techniques useful complementary in characterization pomegranate commercial cultivars Wonderful Apaseo had low levels similarity from Jalisco. level polymorphism found compared with results other authors suggests are polymorphic. We broad genetic diversity can be used breeding programs.

Genetic characterization of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) genotypes by AFLP markers.
The Coruh Valley, located in Northeastern Turkey, is one of the most important centers of diversity in pomegranate in Turkey. In this study, we attempted to characterize 19 promising pomegranate genotypes originating from the Coruh Valley in using fluorescent dye AFLP markers and capillary electrophoresis. Four AFLP primer combinations were used, generating a total of 297 fragments, 213 of whic...

Seedless barberry (Berberis vulgaris L. var. asperma) is one of the few crops that is only cultivated in eastern parts of Iran. As a new crop there has not been any study to identify phylogenetic relationships of this plant with other related species existing in Iran. In this study, Amplification fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers based on four selected primer combinations (EcoRI/Tru1I...
متن کاملGenetic diversity of Moroccan pomegranate (Punica Granatum L.) cultivars using AFLP markers
Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is one of the most important fruit crop cultivated in Morocco. However, little data is available on its genetic diversity. The genetic relationships among pomegranate cultivars were investigated using Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) markers. Six pairs of primers were used to analyse 24 pomegranate cultivars obtained from the central regions of Moro...
متن کاملMolecular and morphological characterization of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) genotypes sampled from Coruh Valley in Turkey.
The pomegranate is one of the oldest fruits that are traditionally consumed by the local inhabitants of the Coruh Valley, Turkey. In this study, the molecular and morphological characteristics of 19 promising pomegranate genotypes selected from the Coruh Valley were evaluated. For the morphological evaluation, 22 quantitative fruit characteristics were used. For the molecular evaluation, 47 ran...
متن کاملStudy of genetic diversities and relatedness of Iranian citrus genotypes using morphological and molecular markers
Having knowledge about genetic relationships among accessions is necessary for developing breeding strategies to produce improved cultivars. In present study, genetic diversity and inter-relationship among 29 genotypes of citrus were comparatively analyzed using morphological and RAPD markers. Significant variability was observed among citrus genotypes for 61 quantitative and qualitative morpho...
